Уважаемые Жители Форума

Я с ужасом обнаружил, что даже опытные и уважаемые парашютисты не любят читать инструкций к AAD. Это становится причиной самых различных баек о работе страхующих приборов. Мне кажется, что это опасно. Чтобы как-то систематизировать основные отличия в работе самых популярных приборов, я создаю эту тему. Если она сэкономит кому-нить жизнь, здоровье или пиропатрон, то будет неплохо, если Администраторы прикрепят ее на видном месте. Если она такая же бестолковая, как тыща страниц срача Выжил vs Купорос, в которых мозг вывихнуть можно в поисках полезной информации, то пусть они ее грохнут.

Для того, чтобы быть максимально объективным, я буду постить сюда только цитаты из мануалов с переводом, иллюстрирующие основные отличия между этими разными AAD, а также ссылки на страницы форума, если это где-то обсуждалось.

Для того, чтобы тема не скатилась к очередному холивору, я создам ее закрытой.

Vigil:

Vigil will work correctly even when used in a pressurized cabin as long as the pressure differs at least ±5hPa compared to the atmospheric air pressure at takeoff.

If you enter a plane with a pressurized cabin, please notify the pilot that he is not allowed to do any pressurized tests equivalent to the Vigil activation altitude or below 2300Ft or 702 meters in “TANDEM” activation mode with a pressurized variation related or equivalent to a fall speed higher than 45mph (20m/sec in “STUDENT”activation mode), to avoid misfires.

Cypres:

A simply rule: Never descend below the elevation of the takeoff airfield or the intended DZ!

When using an aircraft capable of pressurization, make sure that the cabin remains open when the turbines are started up. Leave a window, a door, or the ramp open a bit until after lift-off. It has to be ensured that the cabin pressure cannot build up above the air pressure on the ground. (Hint, skydivers altimeters should never go below „0“.)

Should a jump pilot be unable to comply with these requirements, or should you discover after a jump that the requirements have not been met, you should switch CYPRES off and on again prior to the next jump. Note that the above conditions will only lead to a low, or no activation - therefore there is no risk of a high activation.

Vigil:

The Vigil® will shut down automatically 14 hours after its start-up if at «ground zero» reference (at ±150ft or ± 46m) .

The Vigil® is now ready for use and is in a stand-by status. The unit re-calibrates itself every 32 sec. During take-off the Vigil® will go to an active status (8 measurements per sec.) when reaching 150 feet (+46 m or -46m) above or under the “GROUND ZERO” reference in a time of maximum 32 sec. Vigil®’s active status «Airborne» will be confirmed by five short flashes of the green LED and when the Activation Altitude is reached, the red LED will flash three times.

As long as your Vigil is not measuring the switch on pressure or its “ground zero” reference (at ±150ft or ± 46m) it will stay airborne and will not switch off even after 14 hours. This as long as the “ground zero” reference pressure (at ±150ft or ± 46m) is not measured. Therefore, you need to switch off your Vigil before any move to another location and switch on your Vigil at the new dropzone to implement the new “ground zero” reference.

As off unit #26176 all Vigils will automatically shut off after 14 hours (even if there was an altitude difference of more than 150ft measured compared to the ground zero level pressure value where the Vigil was switched on). 


All units sold or delivered since then were accompanied by “A Reminder to be Vigil-ant” flyer (see attachment). In this flyer we ask you to ALWAYS manually shut down your Vigl at the end of the day, and before leaving the Drop Zone!

If these recommandations are followed, there will be no difference between all the versions before and after the change. We therefore did not change the manual, as we wanted to prevent people to reading a new version of the manual for an older unit that was made before SN 26176 and having an "Airborne" issue.

Vigil:

The Vigil® is very user friendly. It can be used for your choice in 3 activation modes: “PRO”, “STUDENT” or “TANDEM”. The Vigil®, an ALL-IN-ONE Automatic Activation Device (AAD) will also work in U.S. or metric standards units.

Before each jump it is essential to visually check your LCD screen to ensure its functionality, its activation mode (“PRO”, “STUDENT” or “TANDEM”) as well as the pre-selected parameters (altitude correction in feet or in meters) are correctly set.

Important note: Please be aware that the original “GROUND ZERO” reference as well as the altitude correction will remain in the Vigil’s memory and will be applied to all following jumps, as long as your Vigil has not been switched off. Your Vigil must be recalibrated when you have landed at the other drop zone. By switching your Vigil off and back on again, the Vigil recalibrate’s itself and remember that the set “Alt Cor” will only be cancelled if reconfigured in the setup menu.

Vigil:

The cutter activation data is defined by selecting an activation mode:

3.3.1. “PRO” Mode

The Vigil® releases at 840 Ft. (256 meters) and below till 150 Ft. (46 meters),

if the freefall speed is equal or superior to 35 m/sec. (78 mph or 126 km/h)*

3.3.2. “STUDENT” Mode

The Vigil® releases at 1040 Ft. (317 meters) and below till 150 Ft. (46 meters),

if the freefall speed is equal or superior to 20 m/sec. (45 mph or 72 km/h)*

3.3.3. “TANDEM” Mode

The Vigil® releases at 2040 Ft. (622 meters) and below till 150 Ft. (46 meters),

if the freefall speed is equal or superior to 35 m/sec. (78 mph or 126 km/h)*

* The cutter will activate instantaneously once the pre-determined activation mode parameters (altitude and falling speed) are reached.

If the skydiver is falling in a back to earth position, the reading will reflect the correct pressure, the sensor is not influenced by a depression, but if the skydiver is falling face to earth, then the sensor located in the depression zone will read an up to 10mbar lower pressure or an altitude 260 ft or 80 m superior to the real altitude, and will in this case activate later or 260 ft or 80m lower i.e. at a real altitude of 580 ft or 176 m above the ground which is too low. Therefore a compensation of + 260 ft or + 80 m above the nominal activation altitude was integrated.

Expert CYPRES

It activates the release unit when it detects a rate of descent higher than 78 mph (35 m/sec) at an altitude of approx. 750 feet (approx. 225 meters) above ground level (AGL). In the event of a cutaway CYPRES will operate down to approx. 130 feet AGL. Below approx. 130 feet (approx. 40 meters) AGL opening is no longer useful. For this reason, CYPRES ceases operation below approximately 130 feet AGL.

Tandem CYPRES

It activates the release unit when it detects a rate of descent higher than 78 mph (35 m/sec) at an altitude of approx. 1900 (approx. 580 meters) feet AGL. Like the Expert CYPRES, the Tandem CYPRES ceases operation below approx. 130 feet (approx. 40 meters) AGL.

Student CYPRES

It activates the release unit when it detects a rate of descent higher than 29 mph (13 meters per second). The activation altitude is split. In the case of rate of descent being approx. that of free fall, the opening altitude is at approx. 750 feet (the same as with Expert CYPRES). However, should the rate of descent be lower than that of freefall but still above the limit of 29 mph (e.g. with partially opened canopy, or after a cutaway), then Student CYPRES activates the release unit when the altitude falls below approx. 1000 feet (approx. 300 meters) above ground level. The student will then have more time to prepare for landing. Like the Expert CYPRES, the Student CYPRES ceases operation below approx. 130 feet AGL.

Speed CYPRES

It will activate the release unit when it detects a rate of descent higher than approx. 96 mph (approx. 43 m/s) at an altitude below approx. 750 feet (approx. 225 meters) above ground level (AGL). Unlike the Expert CYPRES, the Speed CYPRES ceases operation below approx. 330 feet (approx. 100 meters) AGL.

In the Cypres-2 User’s Guide there is said that Cypres-2 Expert activates the release unit at an altitude of approx. 750 feet (approx. 225 meters) AGL. Is this altitude correct for back-to-earth body position (activation altitude in the chamber)? Or is it correct for face-to-earth body position?

CYPRES 2 Additional Feature April 2012

CYPRES 2 now offers users the option of increas- ing the activation altitude up to 9 steps of approxi- mately 100 feet (30 meters) each. The steps are named “A 1” thru “A 9” (“A” for altitude).

“A 1” indicates approximately a 100 ft. (30 me- ters) increase to the standard CYPRES activation altitude, “A 2” indicates approximately a 200 ft. (60 meters) increase to the standard activation altitude, etc.

If selected, the “A1” thru “A9” is displayed during the selftest countdown. (For example, if “A 1” is selected, the selftest countdown will be: 10; 9; 8; 7; 6; 5; 4; 3; 2; A 1; 0 )

Also, after the selftest is complete, the selected number (1-9) will blink on the far left location of the display.

A Student, Expert or Speed CYPRES will not work if the aircraft is exited before it reaches 1500 feet (450m) above the airfield takeoff elevation and 1500 feet (450m) above the intended dropzone elevation. In the case of a Tandem CYPRES 3000 feet (900m) has to be reached.

Vigil:

The plane may not fly more than 100 sec in a zone of 150 Ft/46m above or under takeoff level! (In all modes, with or without altitude correction).This is the only flight restriction for your Vigil®.

Inside this zone, the Vigil® is in stand-by status, measuring every 32 seconds with recalibration and outside in active status «Airborne», with a fixed «ground zero» reference, measuring 8 times per second.
